Your Role and Responsibilities Role:- Engineering Buyers will perform sourcing non-strategic spend (High value low risk and low value low risk) via the eRFX process (Three quotes) to Client preferred and IBM sourced vendors. This includes transactions above $100k.
Responsibilities
Addressing all non-catalogue transactions if greater than pre-agreed thresholds
Research vendors/pricing to ensure competitiveness and negotiate better purchases/terms almost independently and bring in more savings
Working with Strategic Sourcing Teams in the development of category specific sourcing strategies and give input to sourcing plans
Managing local sourcing suppliers and related stakeholders
Driving change management through education and compliance improvement activities
Manage exceptions to established category strategy
Execute competitive bid events
Communicate and negotiate with clients and suppliers through all levels of organization
Interface with strategic sourcing team to implement strategic contracts at the tactical level
Support client specific category strategy – redirect tactical spend through strategic contracts/channels as appropriate
Perform periodic analysis within managed commodity scope to identify savings, define efficiency opportunities and tactical initiatives that should be undertaken
Promote process efficiencies through focus on automated channels where applicable
Identify appropriate potential suppliers to fit clients business objectives
Negotiate and contract with exception suppliers driving additional savings and value
Communicate supplier recommendations to clients based on objective criteria and fit for client business
Identify any exception opportunities to the Category Managers and make recommendations on strategic approaches that might be taken
Optimise supply base opportunities across managed commodities
Contract creation and execution for the category including resolving the supplier conflicts
Understanding of commercial v/s legal terms
Willing to work in US (Night Shift)
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
3-5 years of exposure in Design/Manufacturing companies, preferably Industrial Engineering
Experience in MRO category and Operations Management
Prior experience with working effectively across different teams, processes and technologies to attain desired business, operational and compliance results.
Neutral accent with good grammar and very fluent in communication.
Experience in a customer-based environment
Experience with procurement platforms and catalogue tools
Knowledge of ERP SAP Ariba is an added advantage
Knowledge of Electronics/Mechanical and Electrical parts
Understanding of Mechanical drawings and related BOM
Added advantage if knowledge of Design to production cycle of any product
Comprehensive commercial procurement and client facing or consulting experience
Negotiation’s skills and Excellent client facing skills
Ability to manage buying projects
Spreadsheet and PowerPoint office tools knowledge
Good written English with e-mail etiquette
Basic sourcing skills/knowledge
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
College Degree or equivalent work experience required — preferably Diploma/Engineering in Mechanical / Industrial Production.
