Your Role and Responsibilities As a Db2 for z/OS developer, you will be a key contributor to the development and maintenance of the Db2 product on the z/OS platform. You will work on the design, coding, and testing of features that enhance the functionality and performance of Db2, addressing both current and future client needs. Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Client Success and Quality Assurance, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
In addition to your development responsibilities, you will be expected to contribute to problem-solving initiatives by analyzing and resolving issues reported by customers and internal teams. This role offers an opportunity to grow your technical skills, work on challenging problems, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Db2 product.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Minimum of 6-10 years of relevant software development experience, with a solid foundation in database systems and enterprise software.
Strong programming skills in C/C++, Java, SQL, with a willingness to learn and apply new technologies.
Good understanding of RDBMS concepts, SQL databases, and familiarity with Db2 for z/OS or similar systems.
Proficiency in source control management tools (GitHub, Tekton, Jenkins) and experience with Agile Life Cycle Management tools.
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across different geographies, and fluency in English.
Ability to work flexibly with global teams, contributing to a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
IBM Certified: Db2 for z/OS administrator or similar certifications.
System Knowledge: Familiarity with z/OS, z/VM, and the ability to analyze system logs and dumps.
Experience with Python, Node.js, JCL, and a basic understanding of Assembler and PLX.
Experience with Db2 for z/OS, including participation in Db2 application development projects.
An ability to innovate within the product development process, contributing ideas and improvements to enhance product quality and client satisfaction.
