Your Role and Responsibilities As a senior software developer in the Db2 for z/OS team, you will take a leadership role in shaping the future of the Db2 for z/OS. Your responsibilities will include leading the design, implementation, and testing of complex features that address the evolving needs of our clients. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Client Success, to proactively identify and resolve customer issues and contribute to strategic enhancements that drive customer value.
In this role, you will be expected to mentor junior developers, provide architectural guidance, and drive innovation in product engineering. Your strong programming, debugging, and problem-solving skills will be crucial as you tackle challenging technical problems and ensure that all deliverables meet the highest quality standards. You will also play a key role in defining testing strategies and ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Minimum of 10 years of relevant software development experience, with a strong track record in leading and delivering complex projects.
Proven experience in leading technical teams, mentoring developers, and driving technical innovation.
Advanced programming skills in C/C++, Java, SQL, with a continuous desire to learn and adopt new technologies.
Deep understanding of RDBMS concepts, SQL databases, and experience with Db2 for z/OS or similar enterprise-level database systems.
Tools & Methodologies: Proficiency in source control management tools (GitHub, Tekton, Jenkins) and Agile Life Cycle Management tools, with a strong understanding of the Agile software development process
Exceptional analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills to analyze and resolve complex issues and defects, especially those reported by customers and test teams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and fluency in English
Ability to work effectively across different time zones, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Db2 for z/OS administrator or equivalent certifications.
Advanced knowledge of z/OS, z/VM, and system internals, with the ability to analyze system output from abends (logs, dumps).
Proficiency in Python, Node.js, JCL, Assembler, and PLX.
Extensive experience with Db2 for z/OS, including Db2 application development and performance tuning.
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation in product engineering and contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions.
