The Amazon Cross Border Core Technology team is seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer to drive the development of innovative technologies that will shape platforms and products impacting a multi-billion-dollar business and enhancing the global customer experience. Our team is focused on building next-generation services that will transform international trade at Amazon. We aim to revolutionize how shoppers worldwide discover and purchase global products. Our goal is to offer a seamless, one-stop shopping experience for international customers, which includes:

Building products (mobile and web based) that reach millions of new customers globally, delivering a world-class shopping experience with localized language, payment options, and currencies.

Designing API-based services in NAWS that enable scalable platforms for both internal and external partners.

Advancing customer experience technologies to support shoppers worldwide.

Innovating strategies for global expansion and developing solutions that will sustain the continued rapid growth of this thriving business.

Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Engineer you will be expected to serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
• Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
• Fully and completely understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
• Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Leverage knowledge of internal and industry prior art in design decisions.
• Effectively research and benchmark Amazon technology against other competing systems in the industry.
• Contribute intellectual property through patents.
• Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
• Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
• Navigate with other teams in Amazon and influence their design and roadmap decisions for the benefit of our region.
• Collaborate with the business teams to identify opportunities and innovate on behalf of our customers.• Bachelor's degree
• 10+ years of software engineering with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects experience
• Experience in complex software development and knowledge of emerging platforms, Java, operating system principles, and programming best practices.
