The Amazon Music Customer eXperience Infrastructure (CXI) team is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Technical to own and drive the development of our Firefly Graph API product. This role is critical to CXI’s charter of enabling Amazon Music to deliver the best audio experience across devices and modalities, with the lowest cost and shortest time to market. Our team works to eliminate complexity for our partners, making their efforts simpler, faster, and more efficient. In this role you will spearhead our efforts to leverage Amazon’s various data services with the help of AI, to power innovative audio experiences like nothing ever seen. This is an opportunity to help shape Amazon Music’s Graph API solution for the next generation of audio experiences.
Key job responsibilities
As the Senior Product Manager, Technical for Firefly, you'll drive the product's long-term vision and roadmap, aligning with Amazon Music's strategic goals. You'll balance new feature development, performance improvements, and stability enhancements, while prioritizing initiatives for planning cycles. Your role involves expanding Firefly's data graph primitives, including Audiobook integration and LLM-related features. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement new API capabilities, ensuring adherence to best practices. Performance is key: you'll work to reduce API response latency for top pages and scale GraphQL subscription capabilities. Enhancing developer experience through self-service tools, SDKs, and comprehensive documentation will be crucial. Cross-functional collaboration is essential. You'll partner with stakeholders across Amazon Music to align Firefly's roadmap with organizational priorities and represent the product in cross-team initiatives. Lastly, you'll analyze API usage data, track KPIs, and report on Firefly's progress and impact to leadership, ensuring the product's value is clearly communicated throughout the organization.
You will draft documents to describe plans, goals, and solutions including PR FAQs, annual and quarterly plans, feature requirements, resourcing asks, and more. You will analyze data, develop insights, and be the resident expert in understanding the relationship between KPIs in surrounding our Graph API, it’s usage, stability and performance, and KPIs for customer / developer satisfaction, velocity, and more. You will write feature requirements, review technical designs, and work across teams to craft disruptive solutions for complex problems. You will conduct experiments and analyze and report results, strategically developing proof of insights that change and steer downstream investments and strategies/deliverables. You will evangelize and report on the Firefly product roadmap in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual business reviews. You will seek out potential new customers of our Graph API infrastructure beyond Amazon Music.
A day in the life
You join the morning scrum with the Firefly development team, where you stay informed of progress and updates from teams executing on your roadmap, and you chime in to help with prioritization. Before lunch you make progress on a PR FAQ for an exciting new Graph API capability powered by AI, as part of annual planning for next year. After lunch you review promising experiment results from a new feature. You share the early results with the team to give an early glimpse of the impact of their work. In a doc review you give feedback to help a colleague. After work you take the Amazon shuttle home.
