Job Description

Develop validation firmware to enable hardware/software integration for Cloud TPU SoC and testing on emulation or FPGA platforms.
Develop embedded tools to configure, debug, characterize and qualify IPs on Cloud TPU Silicon. Work with product, design, and design verification engineers to create efficient test suites for validating Cloud TPU SoCs in hardware systems.
Build tests and necessary testing infrastructure to improve and automate tools for system validation, characterization, and diagnostics.
Integrate embedded tools and test software into a variety of test phases and environments. Drive deployment of these tests into earlier phases of the ASIC design cycle, including pre-silicon environments.
Help make embedded tools and tests portable and reusable, both over the lifetime of a product as well as across programs. Collaborate closely with numerous teams to drive standardization, re-use, and compatibility.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of experience with embedded software, device drivers, and IP or SoC firmware.
Experience developing and bringing up ARM-based software/firmware and real-time operating systems.
Experience programming in C/C++, and with scripting.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2 years of experience writing tests for I/O interfaces, bringing up ASICs or functional units.
Experience with defining software Application Programming Interfaces (API) for hardware configuration and initialization.
Experience building and using Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) tools for debug/qualification/bring-up.
Experience in developing software libraries for Interface IPs such as HBM/DDR controllers and physical layer devices, and Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes).

In this role, you will play a critical role in the bring-up and debugging of silicon and hardware platforms. You will work on the system integration and silicon validation aspects of our Cloud Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) projects. You will own the detailed design and implementation of embedded software for internal IPs and external IPs that are part of our complex machine learning System-on-a-Chip (SoC). You will develop tests and tools to a set of requirements and processes to ensure smooth and reliable performance of our AI/ML projects. You will assist in ensuring tests provide functional coverage and provide new capabilities as required. You will be working with IP specification, firmware, drivers, and real-time operating systems, and create software to operate and qualify for hardware. You will work closely with design, verification, emulation, and silicon validation teams.
