Containers and Kubernetes Services (CKS)

Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best in class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.

The Containers and Kubernetes team aims to provide a rich set of services and tools to enable building and deploying of Cloud Services as containerized workloads and manage the entire development and deployment lifecycle. Oracle’s Container Engine for Kubernetes, Virtual Nodes and Functions are the flagship offerings from this organization. Responsibilities

We’re looking for hands on Engineering Managers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems, cloud native technologies, and highly available services.

If this is you, at OCI you can design and build innovative new systems from the ground up. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives.
You work on a team that owns the design, development, and operations for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure in the Cloud Native space. In the CKS team you shall be working on the Managed and Serverless Kubernetes offering projects as well around the Kubernetes ecosystem.
You should be a distributed systems generalist, able to understand broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower-level system interactions.
You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of experience in designing, delivering and operating large scale, highly available, distributed systems.
Good knowledge of GoLang or Java, Object Oriented Fundamentals and experience with scripting languages such as Python.
Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems and distributed systems fundamentals.
Good knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
Good troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to deliver quality code
Experience working on multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus
Good analytical skills and willingness to look at alternate paths to a solution
Experience designing and driving technical solutions and mentoring engineers.
Strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills.

Specific Technology Exposure

A strong understanding of the architecture of commonly available IaaS solutions with active contributions to architectural enhancements and design.
A strong understanding of container technology like Docker and container orchestration technology like Kubernetes.
Experience with Kubernetes architecture and Cloud design patterns. Familiarity with Kubernetes services from AWS, Azure, Google will be an advantage.

Desired

10+ years of experience as a Technical Lead / Software Developer
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
Prior experience with operating and building cloud services would be a big plus
The candidate should have DevOps exposure and is expected to be on call escalation matrix
Should have a bias for action and should be willing to take ownership of a problem and solve it to completion.
Should be willing to deal with ambiguity and see “beyond the curve”
