Job Description – Software Developer (Python)

As a member of Infrastructure Industries Global Industry Unit product development organization, you will design and develop features in the Textura Payment Management system. You'll communicate with a fast paced and growing team to build the best solutions available for the construction industry. This group works with Linux and Python, so familiarity with open source software and the Python ecosystem is mandatory.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

As a member of the IGIU software engineering division, you will apply intermediate to advanced knowledge of software development, coding, design and architecture to perform tasks associated with designing, developing, debugging, deploying and troubleshooting software applications. You will build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the design & architecture.

An ideal candidate is a hands on Software developer with 3-5 years of experience in coding complex projects and working with a team of ambitious engineers. He/She should:

Have Strong software development / coding experience and drive complex projects in a Global Delivery environment

Have a solid understanding of software development roles, processes and procedures in the context of Web and Database development

Take responsibility for Planning, Design, Execution and Post production roll-out

Contribute actively with Coding, Code reviews, testing and integrating the work

Build and nurture relationships with multiple local and remote business and technical teams

Coach junior developers in the team on best practices, writing clean code

Have a keen eye for identifying improvement opportunities and implement the same

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

3+ Years of experience in building/managing enterprise systems with at least 1-2 years of software development /hands on coding experience

Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools/languages is a big plus.

Technical Skills

Expert level implementation skills in Python

Strong experience in working with Relational databases & ORMs

Python-based frameworks like Graph QL, Django, Flask, SQLAlchemy and Twisted.

Experience in designing, building and consuming REST based web services

Well versed in OO Design principles and Design patterns

Excellent debugging and problem solving skills

Experience in tuning performance & scalability concerns on server side

Strong foundation in Devops technologies (Docker, kubernetes, Terraform and Gitlab etc.)

Comfortable to work with Linux/Unix

Proficient in usage of versioning systems like Git, Gitlab, Bitbucket etc.

Self-motivated, Proactive detail oriented and Team player

Passion for learning and improving current systems

Able to handle multiple projects of varying priorities

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May need to mentor lower level personnel.

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyse and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 3 to 5 years of software engineering or related experience.
