The Digital Acceleration (DA) team is looking for a strong technical and business leader, capable of partnering with our clients to solve challenging problems and deliver World class customer experiences. DA develops and supports foundational services that underpin Amazon’s Digital and Subscription offerings. Our foundational services in domains like Subscriptions, Catalog, Pricing, Ordering and many more supports digital businesses including Amazon Prime, Amazon Music, Prime Video, Kindle Books, Amazon Devices and other business segments. Our products enable our client teams to focus on their specific differentiated offerings while we provide a reliable and consistent customer experience to our end customers. We invest in innovative technology solutions to deliver world class experiences while addressing the rapidly evolving and globally diverse challenges of digital commerce. The business segments we support are rapidly growing and pose tough technical challenges in terms of both scale and complexity.

We are looking for a technology leader to be DA’s Chennai Site leader owning three domains within the organization: Catalog, Pricing and Data Engineering. This role is focused on delivering innovative products that will unblock business value across the Digital space and other business segments including Amazon Prime, Amazon Music, Prime Video, Kindle Books, Amazon Devices and more. The role will require a builder who can balance tactical delivery while building long-term architecture that extends DA product capabilities for future.

The ideal candidate will be a strong technical leader with solid business sensibility, capable of partnering with our clients to solve challenging problems and deliver world class customer experiences. As a Director of Software Development, you will be a pragmatic visionary who can translate business needs into technology solutions that scale both technically and operationally. You will collaborate with your peers to drive organizational transformation across DA to realize our vision of a cohesive product offering for our clients. You are responsible for driving quality and enabling technical innovation for the world’s leading e-commerce company. You will recruit top talent, manage evolving and complex demands, including multiple projects with dependencies on other internal organizations.

Key job responsibilities
Successful candidates will be strong leaders with demonstrated ability to obsess over customers, who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. Other key responsibilities include the following:

- Continuous improvement to process and quality of technical services and platforms
- Strong collaboration skills to help build a unified architecture across the organization
- Strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams
- Bring innovative ideas and big thinking to the table, to drive continuous improvements for customers
- Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback and metrics
- Own and champion engineering and operational excellence through establishment of group-wide metrics for measurement with a consistent, regular process for assessment and improvement
- Interface with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities and processes
- Set clear, measurable and quality goals for the organization in a data-driven way- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or related work experience
- Experience of developing software for managing large scale transaction systems
- Demonstrated experience in building, delivering and operating products and services in a consumer/enterprise space
