About the Team

American Express is on a journey to provide the world’s best customer experience every day. The Commercial Data Office (CoDO) team, within Global Commercial Services (GCS), is focused on powering the best customer experience and business growth through data. With continuous changes in the regulatory environment and innovation through data evolving, CoDO plays a key role in strengthening GCS critical enablers and supporting new opportunities. In partnership with the Enterprise Data Office and across GCS, CoDO is tasked with building new, innovative data solutions for our customers, while adhering to regulations and data management best practices.

The team’s scope is comprised of 3 pillars:

Drive Strategic Growth & Revenue – Defining the vision and roadmap to transform data as a key asset to power business growth. 

Modernize Data Management – Ongoing data management, data discovery and collaboration across Global Commercial Services

Ensure Health of the Commercial Business – Striving for 100% reliability of current data platforms and capabilities while developing more agility and scalability for the future

About the Role

We are searching for a passionate and hard-working Product Owner to join the Machine Learning and Client Hierarchy Capabilities team. In this role, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in ensuring the ongoing reliability and relevance of our products and platforms, driving value for both our customers and the business. You'll be a champion for organization-wide initiatives, fostering a culture of efficiency and ensuring smooth product health through meticulous issue management and change management processes!

Responsibilities

  • Enable GCS & organization-wide Initiatives: Partner with teams across organization to translate initiatives into actionable product roadmaps and features.
  • Product/Platform Ownership: Oversee product and platform ownership in an agile framework, optimizing processes and driving efficiency.
  • Agile Development: Manage the development backlog using Agile Scrum methodologies, prioritizing features based on business value and user impact.
  • Run the Business (RTB) & Product Health: Monitor product health metrics, identify and address issues proactively, and ensure smooth RTB operations.
  • Issue Management & Resolution: Implement durable issue management processes, track and resolve issues effectively, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Change Management & Documentation: Champion standard methodologies, ensuring clear and concise documentation across products & platforms.
  • Governance & DQ Needs: Enable strong governance practices and ensure adherence to data quality (DQ) requirements.
  • Product Performance Reporting: Track and analyze key product performance metrics, generating insightful reports to inform future product decisions.

Qualifications

  • Product professionals with minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience in product space
  • Demonstrated ability in product ownership or a related role within Agile framework.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough and analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Understanding of UX/UI for the products!
  • Writing features and user stories with well defined acceptance criteria for tech engineers 
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple partners.
  • Experience in handling meaningful partnerships/discussion to come out with a great outcome for everyone approach.
  • Experience with issue management and resolution processes.
  • Understanding of data governance and data quality principles

Technical Skills: Rally, JIRA, SQL/Hive, python, Agile Scrum, SAFe agile , API
