Function Description:

With a focus on digitization, innovation, and analytics, the Analytics, Data and Marketing (ADM) team creates central, scalable platforms and customer experiences to help markets across all of these priorities. Charter is to drive scale for the business, and accelerate innovation for both immediate impact as well as long-term transformation of our business. A unique aspect of ADM is the integration of diverse skills across all of its remit. MAPDS has a very broad range of responsibilities, resulting in a broad range of initiatives around the world. 


Strategic Insights and Analytics team sits within the
Global Merchant and Network Services The purpose of the role is to provide data driven insights that inform short-term merchant strategies through consultative analytics for global market(s). This role is responsible for end-to-end execution of the project engagement from problem definition, data analysis/interpretation to develop the storyline with the insights/recommendations. Candidate is required to create strategic insights by quickly understanding new data presented in front of them and making decisions based on logic, business understanding and data techniques.

Purpose of the Role:
Driving merchant engagement by generating bespoke actionable insights for AXP top merchants globally, while keeping a strong focus on opportunities to drive merchant value through scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively drive in-house complex strategic initiatives to further merchant engagement and American Express brand value
  • Drive diverse short-term strategic projects focused on large merchants, industry & Amex offers based strategies
  • Drive consultative & strategic analytical projects for LACC merchants operating in Travel, Retail & Everyday Spend industries
  • Leverage the power of closed loop through Amex network to make intelligent and relevant insights
  • Work with partners located across the globe spread across multiple business units
  • Stay current in their field and up to date with latest business trends, data science, business statistics and algorithms
  • Manage a team of 2-3 people for driving the different engagements

  • Translate unstructured requests into analytical strategies and convert the available information into actionable insights
  • Ability to manage multiple requests with a quick turn-around
  • Envision the bigger problem that the partners are looking at and structure possible what if scenarios
  • Provide multiple solutions based on timeline and data availability

Past Experience:

4-7 years of relevant experience in analytics domain

Preferred: Experience in the merchant/ commercial business


Academic Background:

Bachelor's in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering with relevant experience

Preferred: Post Graduation in Statistics/Mathematics/ Economics/Engineering/Management
