Introduction The IBM Z Ecosystem LinuxONE Technical Enablement Specialist is an expert level infrastructure as code admin with deep expertise in containerized environments and web servers with DevOps focus as well as traditional Linux solutions. Expertise in Linux (Red Hat, SUSE and Ubuntu) integrated with Docker / Kubernetes, DevOps, Automation and Nginx / Apache, ldap and open sourced databases such as MariaDB are essential for role success. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting automation solutions that are new and existing container based infrastructures as well as traditional Linux infrastructures, including coordinating the technical resolution infrastructure problems through knowledge of platform design and development. This role will collaborate with and assist teams with different skills to resolve problems and return infrastructure to operational status, including performing support related to all infrastructure issues, correcting design defects, and developing solutions to stabilize environments. In addition, this role will facilitate communications between technical teams and customers to ensure technical support requests are resolved rapidly with user satisfaction.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Design, create, and maintain automation scripts, workflows, and infrastructure on Linux systems for customer-facing products
Setting up and administering container-based infrastructures
Setting up and administering Linux infrastructure in a cloud environment utilizing Open Stack
Implementing and managing DevOps pipelines
Ensuring high-performance and availability of the infrastructure and systems
Configuring reverse proxies, ingresses and web servers for multi-instance environments
Troubleshooting and resolving incidents
Provide technical user support
Updating technical teams on project status
Writing and maintaining solution technical documentation
Maintaining communication with product customers
Support on technical solution through research and evaluations of technology
Assist in delivery of high-quality and innovative solutions
Follow IBM Guidelines and ensure solution compliance with IBM ITSS
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Extensive expertise in Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE) and infrastructure projects (5+ years, Senior level)
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash for infrastructure automations and applications.
Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and virtualization technologies (e.g. KVM, OpenStack, QEMU).
Expert in root cause log analysis (5+ years, Senior level)
Experience with open source database, webservers and ldap
Expert in Nginx / Apache web servers / reverse proxies
Experience in DevOps pipelines creation (Travis CI, Bash scripting)
Expert in container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes / OpenShift)
Experience & knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and their security/sessions/logging aspects
Experience in integration with 3rd party platforms/solution through REST APIs
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Comfortable with settings up and working with web servers and database layer
Experience setting up and configuring database instances (MySQL / MariaDB / PostgreSQL)
At least 5-year experience as a System Administrator
Experience in Cloud and Open Source development processes and tools
Readiness to work in US Eastern time zones
