Job Description
Responsibilities: Solid expertise with administrating IBM WebSphere Application Servers • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting of Middleware technologies/principles and how they applied in infrastructure • Knowledge on shell and/or JYTHON/PYTHON and WAS Specific Admin Scripting • Solve complex performance or runtime issues Managing and maintaining virtual servers including, procedures and tools for access, security, monitoring and tuning WAS Infrastructure, other Java Application servers and middleware platforms • Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate potential tools/applications, and maintain good vendor relationships. • Work collaboratively as a part of the engineering team to ensure high availability and stability of platforms 24/7 (on-call support) Middleware Platform Engineer is a subject matter expert in Java Application hosting platforms like IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and WebSphere Liberty. This is a key role to modernize our Java application hosting infrastructure and adopt industry best practices to ensure the hosting platforms we provide to our business are scalable, reliable, and secure. Mission: • Product lifecycle Management of IBM WebSphere Application Servers / WebSphere Liberty • Provides operational support for WebSphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server (IHS) and other related middleware services. • Engineer new capabilities, automate and modernize Java Application Hosting infrastructure • Solve complex performance or runtime issues • Work with vendors to review products to meet the capability needs • Managing and maintaining virtual servers including, procedures and tools for access, security, monitoring and tuning WAS Infrastructure, other Java Application servers and middleware platforms • Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate potential tools/applications, and maintain good vendor relationships. • Experience with Java Application Servers on Cloud would be a big plus • Experience in working with container and container orchestration platforms Kubernetes/OpenShift is a plus Educational Requirements Bachelor of Engineering Additional Responsibities: WAS Admin Websphere Application Servers Scripting IBM WebSphere Application Servers Technical and Professional Requirements: • Primary skills:Technology->Infrastructure-Server Administration->WAS administration
