Global Workplace Design, Director, Corporate Real Estate

Job Description

We're seeking someone to join our team as a professional with relevant experience to lead workplace strategy transformation and communications, for our real estate portfolio.

In the Corporate Services division, we provide solutions that enable Morgan Stanley's workforce, across our global workplace locations, to effectively and efficiently work in the service of our clients.

The Global Workplace Design, Planning & Experience agenda is to:
- Create a work environment that provides a meaningful employee and client experience, helps attract and retain top talent, supports health and wellbeing of building occupants, optimizes our real estate and delivers value for investment.
- Develop a platform which provides clear governance and policy, process and methodology, scalable solutions, and measures the effectiveness and efficiency of our workplace to support employee productivity.
- Implement and maintain Workplace Evolution; Morgan Stanley's workplace strategy for projects across the portfolio.

What you'll do in the role:

  • The Workplace Design & Planning team is looking for a professional with relevant experience to provide workplace transformation, change management and communication oversight for our real estate portfolio. Act as a key member of the team to;
  • Inform and assist with development of long-term workplace transformation strategies with the Workplace team.
  • Coordinate with all aspects of program delivery including workplace strategy development, workplace client scope development, business unit engagement, workplace change management and end user communication channels, and workplace experience strategy development to provide effective workplace solutions for the workforce.
  • Leverage existing Global Workplace Guidelines, governance, policies, planning metrics, principles, best practices and lessons learned to provide appropriate implementation strategies and solutions for all projects.
  • Support coordination of senior stakeholder approvals throughout the project process for change engagements and communications.
  • Support management of relevant change management workplace consultants as required.
  • Leverage other Workplace Design & Planning team members for additional support and subject matter expertise as required.
  • Manage on-going main the change program to successfully adopt our Workplace Evolution activity based working program in collaboration with workplace teammates
  • Partner with Sourcing teams to assist with procurement of change management consultant services in collaboration with Project Management.
  • Maintain an active awareness and understanding of global workplace trends, innovations and opportunities.
  • Manage a regional team for the Transformation Management function on a day-to-day basis, reporting to the EMEA Lead who provides global oversight


What you'll bring to the role:

  • Awareness of linkage between design, real estate planning & workforce effectiveness to be productive and enrich Firm culture.
  • Requires project management capabilities with experience in the end-to-end project execution process for major workplace transformation projects. Key skills include project management, client relationship management, analytics and executive communication.
  • Understanding of current workplace planning theories. Advanced knowledge of workplace strategy principles, design trends, and financial services workplace sector.
  • Proven organizational skills, ability to prioritize in order to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients.
  • A flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing conditions and priorities and to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Distills complex information to the essential for client decision-making. Capable of participating in discussions with internal clients on design and space use concepts
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to present to and communicate with demanding clients within the Business Units, managing expectations throughout the design and delivery process.
  • Excellent teamwork with ability work cross functionally and coordinate with a global team
  • Ability to draw on data and research, articulate a 'story' from data and present it in a clear and concise way.
  • Bachelor degree
  • 8 - 10 years relevant real estate change management in Corporate/Financial Services industry is advantageous.
  • LEED AP, WELL Accreditation are advantageous
  • Computer skills in Microsoft platforms. Basic AutoCAD skills.
  • Moderate travel may be required as this is an international role
