Role Description

Morgan Stanley Equity Research is one of the financial industry's dominant thought leaders in equity investing and is a vital link between the Firm's varied business divisions. Our analysts, economists, and strategists have earned this reputation through timely, in-depth analysis of companies, industries, markets, and the world's economies. Our highly regarded equity analysts--who cover over 2,300 stocks globally and are organized by country, region, and global industry--develop key investment ideas and themes that are used by buy-side firms to structure portfolios as well as by the Morgan Stanley sales force in its interaction with investing clients; and provide valuable insights on market-moving events to the firm's traders and their clients. Responsibilities

We are growing the Equity Strat team in Morgan Stanley Research, and are hiring diverse talent – some with a Python background, some low- to no-code. We are looking for a highly capable python coder to:

1. Spend the first 6 months designing, implementing, and administering a training curriculum for our new hires, and then

2. Convert to working directly with research analysts to create and implement automation strategies across the department, including data analytics, automated visualizations, and scalable tools.

Long-term, the individual will have the opportunity to leverage data-driven, quantitative techniques to become a publishing member of the team, and to get a deeper expertise in the financial industry and fundamental analysis. To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter, creative, and curious, with an interest in data and financial markets.

This role is the right fit for a Python expert, likely with a background in software engineering, who is looking for an opportunity to broaden their skillset to Finance and a more client-facing role.

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

4+ years experience with advanced Python, with exposure to pandas and/or numpy
Familiarity with data analytics or statistical modelling is a plus
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
