What you need to know about the role
We are seeking a talented and experienced Systems & SAN Administrator to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our Systems/Storage Area Network infrastructure to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and scalability.

System Storage and Services (S3) Team is responsible for Infrastructure (Systems and Storage) that support PayPal payment ecosystems.

This is an opportunity to be a Technology expert within the Infrastructure Team and PayPal in general. You will work closely with Oracle/NoSQL/MySQL Database team, Applications and business functions to come up with optimal solutions to drive key revenue, growth, and compliance initiatives. You will get an opportunity to work on Next Gen Technology handles the back tier datacentre.

Your day to day

The Enterprise System and Storage Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business-critical applications and system & data storage needs.

Systems:

Administer and maintain systems such as Oracle Exadata Database Machine systems and all other database related systems, including hardware, software, and firmware components.
Configure and manage Oracle Exadata features such as Smart Scan, Smart Flash Cache, and Hybrid Columnar Compression to maximize database performance and efficiency.
Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Cloud Containerization - Kubernetes
Security best practices - Perform system upgrades, patch management, and configuration changes.
Implement and enforce security policies and best practices to protect sensitive data stored on all platforms.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Perl
Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
Collaborate with database administrators, system architects, and application developers to design and implement Exadata solutions that meet business requirements.
Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing and support.
Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical systems.
Manage backup solutions and ensure data integrity and availability.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in Engineered systems and database management to recommend and implement improvements.

Storage:

Design, deploy, configure, and maintain all type of storage – Block, NAS and Object to meet the organization's storage and performance requirements.
Ensure high availability and performance of storage systems.
Design, implement, and manage cloud storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure, Google Cloud Storage).
Migrate on-premises storage systems to cloud-based solutions as required.
Optimize cloud storage resources for cost efficiency and performance.
Implement and manage SAN fabric components, including switches, directors, and storage arrays, ensuring seamless connectivity and data accessibility.
Perform troubleshooting, and performance tuning of SAN systems to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and storage-related problems.
Implement and maintain backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions for SAN storage, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.
Develop and implement backup strategies for both on-premises and cloud storage systems.
Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backup and recovery test.
Design and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical storage systems.
Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve storage performance issues.
Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and application developers to design and implement SAN solutions that meet business requirements and integrate with existing infrastructure.
Plan and execute SAN storage expansions, upgrades, and migrations in coordination with stakeholders to accommodate growth and technology advancements.
Document SAN configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing and support.

What do you need to bring-

10+ years of relevant industry experience
Experience Systems (OS Linux) and Storage Engineer with Cloud technologies
Proficiency in virtualization technologies
Experience with storage virtualization and software-defined storage solutions.
Familiarity with networking concepts related to storage, such as iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NFS.
Excellent problem-solving, team, and time management skills
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
