Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This job is designed to monitor and handle workload related issues, i.e., monitoring and taking action on long running jobs, cancelling high CPU consuming jobs, recycling sub-systems, etc. Will be responsible for managing and maintaining the software and hardware of mainframe systems. Requires a strong understanding of operating systems and programming languages like COBOL and JCL. Also need to be skilled in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Using Netview/Omegamon/RMF tools monitor jobs/resource consumption and take action when necessary
Take the appropriate, predefined recovery actions (job cancelling, Job holds, Freezeframes, etc.) for the various operational events such as looping jobs, abends, spool alerts, etc
Monitor the system and reacting to problem alerts
Able to start, stop and recycle z/OS started tasks
To start, stop and recycle CICS, DB2, IMS, and MQ based in the requirement.
Should be able to take systems dumps and traces.
Using SMP/E tool upgrade the tools.
Learns, and with guidance follow practices, metrics, and prescriptive processes to ensure quality of delivery.
Other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION

Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Required
3-6 year with Mainframe system administration.

SKILLS

Proficient in system maintenance and troubleshooting
In-depth understanding of operating systems
Proficient in system maintenance and troubleshooting
Knowledge of Unicom Macro 4 Freeze Frame a plus
Understanding of job schedulers and their functionality
