What you need to know about the role-

Design and develop cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services that meet PayPal analytical world requirements. Monitor the performance of cloud-based systems and optimize resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and high availability deploying new applications to the cloud and migrating existing applications from on-premises infrastructure ensuring seamless operations.

Our team is developing a cloud enablement platform which provides monitoring, governanace, standartization and cost effiecncy solutions across all services and workloads in PayPal’s analytical world.

Your way to impact

The ideal candidate is an experienced cloud engineer that has experience in building applications on top of cloud services and SDK's supporting different languages and tech stacks. You should also be able to dive into spark internals and find workarounds for all kind of issues. The engineer we are looking for will also need to be able to identify and support platform issues ranging from software bugs to hardware configurations.

Your day to day

In your day to day role as a Big Data Cloud Engineer, you will:

Develop and maintain Applications and SDK's to power PayPal analytical workloads.
Work closely with engineering and operations teams to provide support for the big data workloads.
Analyse and improve stability, efficiency, and scalability of the platform.
Perform technology evaluation and prototype ideas quickly.
Assist developing teams to tune and improve their applications.

What do you need to bring-

Experience with developing services on cloud providers platform (GCP preferred)
Experience with GoLang, Java, Python or other programming languages
Experience with Hadoop Ecosystem: including Spark, Hive, Hbase, ElasticSearch, etc.
Experience with DevOps development (Dockers, K8S, Terraform)
Strong Unix and shell scripting skills
Experience with SQL
Operations background is a plus.
BA/BS (MS preferred) in Computer Science and/or 5 years of relevant professional experience
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment and across the globe
Ability to work both as a team member and independently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in Hebrew and English
Experience in working in a global environment - an advantage
