Sr. Mainframe Developer

As a Sr. Mainframe Developer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing mission-critical mainframe systems within our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our core applications and systems that support various business functions. This role is pivotal in driving technological solutions that align with our business strategy and enhance our operational capabilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders, to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

Your expertise will contribute significantly to optimizing our mainframe environment, ensuring seamless integration with other systems, and maintaining data integrity across platforms. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements, and translate them into technical specifications and design documents.
Develop, test, and implement mainframe applications and systems enhancements, ensuring they meet business needs and performance standards.
Conduct thorough system analysis and design, focusing on optimizing performance, reliability, and scalability of mainframe applications.
Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of mainframe systems to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
Work with data management teams to support data integration, data migration, and data quality initiatives across various systems and platforms.
Ensure proper implementation of data transfer protocols, such as EDI and File Transfer Protocols, to maintain data integrity and security.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration between mainframe and UNIX systems, optimizing cross-platform functionality.
Monitor and evaluate system performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary enhancements or upgrades.
Document system processes, procedures, and changes to maintain comprehensive system documentation and support knowledge sharing within the team.
Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Support production environments, managing incidents, and providing timely resolutions to minimize impact on business operations.
Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with the latest technologies and best practices in mainframe development and system integration.
