Wealth Management – Client Segment

Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management business is one of the largest in the world with more than $6 trillion in client assets with Financial Advisors in offices across the U.S.  Our Financial Advisors focus on delivering timely, customized solutions and services that help clients meet their financial and life goals. Additionally,

Client Segments Organization, within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, is comprised of various client channels, providing services to both individual and institutional Clients. Some of the services include Financial Management, Equity Stock Plans, Retirement Plans, Financial Wellness, Marketing, and Reinvestment.

Team and Position Summary

The Client Segment – Exams and Operational Risk Team (CSR_EOR) is a first line of defense function responsible for overseeing the operational risks and controls of Wealth Management’s Client Segments business units.

The CSR_EOR Team acts as a shared / utility function supporting all Wealth Management Client Segment Business Units.

The team partners with business stakeholders, second and third lines of defense to assess and report on operational risks, implement control processes and procedures, manage audits and exams, oversee vendor risks, manage business continuity plans, and conduct the annual Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA).

This team is actively growing and taking on more responsibilities, so we are looking for an individual who can handle change and growth in a fast-paced environment.

The Client Segment – Exams and Operational Risk Team is looking for a dynamic individual contributor that will support Infrastructure and Data Security related activities. This position provides support to various supervisory and operational risk processes across Client Segments group. This includes, but is not limited to Business Control Unit functions, Risk Officer support activities, and Centralized Team members in preparation and reporting for various forums; with a focus on mitigating risk and improving the control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate’s primary role will be supporting Client Segment Risk with Incidents and Infrastructure Management, Location Strategy and Regulatory Supervision

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Review and escalate daily EComm cases based on employee actions (i.e. not following firm protocol for use of mobile device, external communication requirements, etc.).
  • Create monthly and quarterly reporting related to EComm case escalations, Field Location Service quality assurance and incident management.
  • Assist with BCP maintenance and Vendor/Third Party management as needed.
  • Assist with Entitlement reviews and cost center changes; as well as EUCs/Tools and Models
  • Contribute to key strategic operational risk priorities performed within our Mumbai team, including transition planning, resource allocation and coordination, and engagement with our senior risk unit managers.
  • Assist with ad hoc data reconciliation, presentation decks; or clean-up projects.
  • Participate in meetings with local and U.S. supervisory teams as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong data analytical skills required, with proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to thoroughly investigate issues and trends with a focused attention to detail in order to provide comprehensive solutions and remedies
  • Strong organization and project management skills with ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines will be key in balancing daily deliverables and strategic projects
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of their responsibilities to ensure partner success and satisfaction
  • Technically proficient and comfortable learning new programs/systems
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills to deliver consistent quality results 
  • Ability to work in a small team environment, building and maintain a network of contacts and coordinating with a large number of stakeholders

Experience

  • 6+ years’ experience supporting corporate business processes/programs
  • Experience with risk or compliance a plus
  • Experience in Financial Services; with preference to Wealth Management experience and business knowledge

Education

  • Bachelor’s/MBA degree or equivalent work experience
