Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role:
As a Web Platform Solutions Engineer, you will be expert across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) used by all Web Engineers at PayPal. You will provide hands-on support and troubleshooting with web engineers in order to enable them to deliver value to PayPal’s customers. You will develop and maintain the tools, documentation, and automation to provide this service in an increasingly efficient way.

Meet our team:
Our team is comprised of support/operations engineers that provide in depth support for Java and Javascript application teams in PayPal. This role is for the Javascript support and operations role, but can easily morph into a Java role over time as you build your skills. You will closely with Javascript framework developers to get to the root cause of difficult and challenging problems encountered by application developers. You will also learn about Raptor, a Java based framework we support as well as Messaging and Routing infrastructure- allowing you to build a well rounded skillset that will help make a move into development seemless.

Your day to day

In your day to day role you will :

Work directly with PayPal’s web engineers and core Web Platform Engineering team
manage the support queue: looking for engineers who can automate this as much as possible and avoid time spent literally typing answers into Slack
Perform deeper investigations & troubleshooting into SDLC blockers stemming from above
Track and resolve any code changes to the Node.js framework code stemming from above
Write and maintain automation to streamline the changes stemming from above

What do you need to bring-

Strong applied experience. You’ve built scalable web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, NPM, http, and browsers
Very strong foundational knowledge of knowledge in Object-Oriented Design Principles, Data Structures, Algorithms, SQL/NoSQL, Operating Systems, and Software Engineering
Great customer and interpersonal skills
Good experience and understanding of continuous integration and the methodologies and technologies required (unit & functional testing, Jenkins or related build systems, containerized computing, etc)
