Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role

As a member of the team, you will be responsible for quickly and accurately triaging production issues. You will partner with various engineering teams and PayPal partners to bring rapid resolution to production issues and restore customer functionality. We're looking for well-rounded, detail-oriented technologist with an investigative mind, great troubleshooting/debugging skills and strong customer focus. This is an opportunity to be a technical leader within Payments Engineering Foundation team. Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
Triage and troubleshoot issues for PayPal products and applications on the live site.
Collaborate with product development teams and various business groups to prioritize, identify, and develop reliability and supportability improvements.
Engage in automation of daily activities that drive operational excellence and ensure highly productive operating procedures.
Build and maintain strong relationships with cross vertical teams such as Product Management, Product Development, Site Reliability and Operations.
Provide and/or review daily, weekly, and quarterly platform goals/metrics to stakeholders.
Weekend and after-hours support, on a rotating schedule, is required.

Your day to day

Triage and resolve issues with very little help or direction and show command and expertise in various PayPal products.
Experience in operational detection/monitoring activities and exposure to P0/P1 incident management activities
Demonstrate business acumen while providing technical solutions and communicating clearly while liaising with our customers and stake holders.
Communicate effectively and demonstrate resourcefulness and ability in accessing impacts and facilitating faster resolution to delight customers.
Provide valuable Issue Intelligence for the major issues: By Identifying applications, monitoring, process, and product gaps and propose short- term solutions to address them. Drive long term solutions with technology/product teams when appropriate.
Proactive in suggesting permanent solutions for various site related issues.
Identifies opportunities for engineer productivity improvements or directions and evangelizes them successfully.
Work well within a team and contribute effectively to the success of those that they interact with regularly.
Work with product development teams and various business groups to prioritize, identify and develop reliability and supportability improvements.
Interact and participate with the various PD organizations in forums such as conferences and workshop.
Develop strong working relationships across levels and functions. Facilitate problem diagnosis and
resolution in relevant areas.

What you need to bring:

10+ years of relevant industry experience in software product development
Ability to drive communication with external partners, processors, and vendors.
Strong time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities.
Excellent problem-solving skills
Experience in developing, troubleshooting/debugging complex multi-tier applications.
Proven ability to step up and lead by managing team workload and task prioritization.
Proficiency in object-oriented programming language, Java Spring boot.
Experience with SQL, Tableau, Unix/Linux, Git, Jira, Service Now
Scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python, JavaScript) a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills
